Savannah, founded in 1733, is
one of the oldest cities in America.
It’s rich tradition and unique décor has made it a very popular city for Hollywood to visit and
film in. Major stars like Clint Eastwood and Tom Hanks have graced
the streets of the city filming and starring in films such as Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
and a little movie called Forrest Gump.

Westville, "Georgia's Working 1850 Town," is a little-known secret tucked away just 130 miles southeast of Atlanta, near the village of Lumpkin. Talk about a ready-made period film location! We picked practically the hottest day of the year - 97 degrees in the shade, at least - to make the trip to Lumpkin in order to get an up close look at the living history museum that is Westville.

Formed
in 1837, the city of Atlanta (and Georgia in general) has a rich
historical legacy gapping from the civil war to the civil rights
movement, making Atlanta a cultural center with a diverse population.
Much of antebellum Atlanta was destroyed in 1864 during Sherman's march
to the sea, but was soon rebuilt and is now the fastest growing city in
the southeast, and quickly becoming a metropolis for tourism, business,
and arts & entertainment.

Rome is a
bountiful city that has the potential to serve as a mecca for filmmakers
shooting in Georgia. About an hour and twenty minutes northwest of the Atlanta
perimeter, the Floyd County capital offers many advantages, including a variety
of city locations at low or no cost with permit-free shooting, a generally
open-minded community which embraces filmmakers, and a visitor’s bureau eager
to bring new films into the area.
