It's the last official day of filming and we're shooting my death scene. And I'm not dying peacefully in my sleep, either. I'm going face first into the spinning prop of an airplane! Flashback: Eight months earlier, Los Angeles. I'm hired to write a screenplay for an independent film, to be entitled Outrage, shooting in Georgia in the spring.

Any Atlantan who's experienced afternoon northbound traffic knows I'm tempting the traffic gods by trying to make it to the set of the new feature film Rex, being shot primarily in North Georgia. But after sweating it out (and the obligatory cursing other slow northbound traffic that stands in my way), I make it through and am thankfully able to catch up with the production just before it wraps.

El Departmento, the senior project of Savannah College of Art and
Design student Jonathan Perez, is the stuff of suspense thrillers, but is also
a true story that occurred nearly two years ago, and is yet to be resolved. Perez,
who penned and helmed the short, is making this film to raise awareness of the
discrimination and unfair practices that minorities face at the hands of legal
authorities who use their power to uphold and justify their actions.

Allen Wilbanks, the writer/director of the Lion’s Gate Home Entertainment recent release Motor Home Massacre, has just finished principle photography on his second feature Evil Keg. Evil Keg was shot in an impressive 10 day span. This kind of pace for principal photography is an Assistant Director’s dream and a Director of Photography’s nightmare.
