It's 3:30 in the morning on Sunday, and I've just finished off my third can of Full Throttle (Sugar Free) in a little less than six hours. I'm trying to get enough of a buzz to put the finishing touches on the latest issue of CinemATL, our eleventh. I've been working non-stop since about noon on Saturday, and I'm close to having all the stories in place for launch.

Just when you thought it was safe to turn your brain off in preparation for the blockbuster summer movie season... the Atlanta Film Festival is back! More thrills! More action! More explosions! More... wait. Yeah, flip that brain switch back on. When Gabe Wardell took over as executive director at IMAGE late last year, he promised there would be changes. And here they are.

2007 is already turning out to be a great year for
filmmaking in Atlanta. With the success of The
Signal at the Sundance Film Festival, things look bright indeed. And The Signal is just one film that has
seen success in the New Year. With the release of Dark Remains on DVD, after a very
healthy festival run, the future looks good.

A long time ago, when we were only in the planning stages of
CinemATL, we decided that we wouldn’t
use the magazine to cover our own projects, like Return of the Jackalope or Spleen,
which both played at festivals this year. But as the holidays come around, it’s always nice to reflect
on what you have accomplished in the past year...

It all started with Ed...Banuel that is. We rolled out our first issue on Oct. 15, 2005 at 8 p.m. Now we're putting out Issue #7 which marks one year of CinemATL Magazine. As we spoke about in our very first Southern Hospitality we still get asked, "how do you pronounce that?" every now and then...
